To use Gedeon effectively the perfect distancing is required along with good timing, the knowledge about his moveset and skillful execution of his more difficult moves. This will often lead to Gedeon's death due to the opponent's opening attack if the distancing is even slightly off. His main disadvantages are his short range, his poor, unreliable performance when he gets too close to the enemy (despite being a short-ranged character) and weak auto-block - this includes the blocking properties of his attacks. With that in mind, many of his attacks can also be interrupted by backing attacks. Keep in mind that cancelling the recovery may be judged to be a bug by the developer that can get eliminated in a future patch. For example, when the enemy moves in to punish a Gedeon's move which would otherwise have a long recovery when not morphed. Additionally, many of his moves can have their recovery interrupted by pressing the back button when they are being performed - that usually faints the attack for other characters but in the case of Gedeon's it won't stop the attack and will instead allow one to morph the move into a different one that can potentially catch the opponent off-guard. Most of his attacks are different variations of basic attacks and their effective use requires expertise in their usage and the knowledge of their properties. This means that he has multiple options for continuing his chains. Additionally, his attacks chain well when followed by attacks coming from the opposite direction - in other words when using an attack that causes the stance switch. when in RFF he will switch stance after performing an attack from his left side towards the right side). He switches between his stances by backdashing, when side dashing opposite in an opposite direction to his leading foot, and when attacking towards his leading foot (e.g. He possesses two stances - with leading right foot (often referred to as Right Foot Forward - RFF) - in which he starts the combat, and with leading left foot (Left Foot Forward - LFF) which offers a little longer range and a generally better moveset.
